We understand that cancer treatment can be a physically exhausting and emotionally draining experience. To help alleviate some of the stress on our cancer patients, we offer in-house chemotherapy and other infusion therapy treatments at both our Gainesville and Braselton clinics.
All of our chemotherapy and infusion patients have access to free Wi-Fi, massage & heated recliners, heated blankets, as well as beverages and snacks.
Our team of oncology specialists work closely with patients and their families to provide the best possible care to increase the odds of survival and to help patients live as actively and comfortably as possible during the treatment period.
Chemotherapy, also called chemo, is a treatment using cancer-fighting drugs. There are different ways to give chemotherapy but the most common route is administered into the vein. Like any other drug, chemotherapy has side effects and the severity depends upon the drug and the individual. Before chemotherapy is started, your doctor will thoroughly explain the specific plan of treatment, the side effects and which symptoms need to be reported immediately.
Since chemotherapy kills rapidly dividing cancer cells, it also kills other rapidly dividing healthy cells in our bodies (the membranes lining the mouth, the gastrointestinal tract lining, hair follicles and bone marrow). The side effects of chemotherapy relate to these areas of damaged cells.
Chemotherapy side effects depend upon the drug and the individual. Side effects related to chemotherapy will resolve when chemotherapy is stopped, although it may take some time. Be sure to talk with your care team about how chemotherapy works and any side affects you experience while receiving chemo medication.
